A B2B shop for wholesale works fundamentally differently from a platform for medical technology. We have worked across numerous industrial sectors and know the rules of each. Our industry solutions cover wholesale with its high order volumes, manufacturing and production with spare-part and bill-of-materials logic, technical trade with standards-compliant product classifications, the food and beverage sector with its batch and shelf-life requirements, the building materials and construction supplies trade with bulk goods and packaging units, as well as medical technology and laboratory supply with their regulatory obligations. Technically, we build each of these solutions on the open Shopware Community Edition, connected to your ERP system. Select your industry below and learn how we digitize your processes.
Three Requirement Profiles, One Platform
Why Industry-Specific Expertise Matters
In wholesale, speed and volume are everything: quick order forms by SKU number, tiered pricing by purchase quantity and framework agreements with automatic terms are standard here. In manufacturing and production, the focus is on precise spare-part identification via bills of materials and assemblies, technical datasheets as product supplements and variant configuration. Technical trade requires standards-compliant classifications per ETIM or ECLASS, extensive attribute filtering and the exchange of structured product data via BMEcat.
The food and beverage sector needs batch traceability, best-before dates, allergen labeling and temperature-dependent logistics information directly in the shop. In the building materials and construction supplies trade, packaging units, pallet and bag quantities, freight calculation by weight and volume, and construction-site deliveries are the central topics. Finally, in medical technology and laboratory supply, regulatory requirements such as UDI labeling, conformity documents and traceable order histories take priority. For each of these industries, we develop the right functionality on the basis of Shopware Community Edition, rather than forcing you into a rigid standard product.
B2B Basics That Every Industry Shares
However different the requirements are in detail, all B2B shops share a common foundation. Roles and approvals, customer-specific prices, purchase on account and the connection to the leading ERP system are part of practically every project. On this foundation we then add the industry-specific building blocks, rather than starting from scratch each time.
Customer-Specific Prices
Individual price lists, tiered prices and framework terms per customer group or individual customer, synchronized live from the ERP.
Roles and Approvals
Requester, approver and administrator per customer account, with multi-level order approvals and budget limits.
Purchase on Account
The most requested payment method in B2B, secured via credit limit, credit score and customer group. Details under B2B payment methods.
ERP Integration
Articles, prices, stock and orders reconciled bidirectionally with SAP, Dynamics or DATEV, without duplicate maintenance.
Quick Ordering
Ordering by SKU number, CSV upload and reorder lists for recurring day-to-day procurement.
Accessible per BFSG
Accessible operation, good contrasts and keyboard navigation are considered from the start.
Shopware Community Edition as an Open Foundation
All our industry solutions are built on the Shopware Community Edition, an open-source platform. The shop belongs to you, including data and customizations; you are not tied to a single vendor with ongoing license fees. This independence matters especially in B2B, where shops are operated over many years and continuously extended. We develop the industry-specific functions as our own extensions on this basis, so they fit your processes exactly rather than the other way around.
The Community Edition is open source and free to run below a certain annual revenue threshold. If your volume exceeds that, we transparently state the cost of a commercial edition separately from our development work, so you always know which amount goes to us and which to the vendor. In most mid-market projects, we cover the typical B2B requirements such as roles, approvals and customer-specific prices with our own development on the open foundation.
Your Industry at a Glance
Eleven sectors, each with its own detail page: on the following pages we show which functions your industry really needs and how we implement them on Shopware. If your business model combines several of these topics, we combine the building blocks — in everyday B2B, that is the rule rather than the exception. Each detail page names the industry-typical requirements, fitting function examples and the relevant interfaces. This lets you gauge, even before the initial consultation, where your priorities lie and which adjacent areas you should factor in.

Learn moreFrom Your System Data to an Industry-Ready Shop
However different the industries are, the path of the data into the shop follows a clear pattern. Your articles, prices and stock live in the ERP or inventory system. A transformation layer enriches them with the industry-specific attributes — classifications, batches, UDI labels or hazardous-goods data — and passes them to the shop. This keeps your leading data source untouched, while the shop still shows exactly the information your buyers expect. How we connect systems cleanly is also described on the PIM integration page.
Bringing Industry Data Cleanly Into the Shop
Between your ERP and the shop sits a mapping layer that turns raw master data into industry-appropriate product information. You keep maintaining data in your leading system, and the shop stays up to date automatically — including customer-specific prices and standards-compliant attributes.
- Articles, prices and stock synchronized bidirectionally
- Attributes per ETIM/ECLASS, batches or UDI added
- Standard ERP connector from 4,900 € net, custom from 12,900 € net
Industry Requirement and Implementation Compared
The following overview maps the typical core requirement of each industry to the concrete technical implementation. It does not replace a concept discussion, but it gives an initial sense of where your priorities are likely to lie.
| Industry | Central B2B Requirement | Our Implementation |
|---|---|---|
| Wholesale | High volumes, tiered prices, framework agreements | Quick ordering, quantity-based prices, terms takeover |
| Industry and Manufacturing | Spare parts via bills of materials and assemblies | BOM navigation, datasheets, variant configuration |
| Technical Trade | Standards-compliant product classification | ETIM/ECLASS attributes, filter search, BMEcat exchange |
| Food and Beverage | Batches, best-before dates, allergens | Batch handling, best-before display, temperature-controlled logistics |
| Building Materials | Packaging units, tonnage, site delivery | Freight by weight and volume, bagged goods, delivery windows |
| Medical Technology and Lab | UDI, conformity, documentation | UDI labeling, document download, order history |
In practice, hardly any business model fits a single row of this table. A building materials dealer often also carries hazardous goods, a food wholesaler supplies hospitality and retail with different price lists, a technical trader combines standard classification with spare-part logic. This is exactly where a specialized partner pays off: we know the typical combinations and which data models prove reliable and which lead to problems later. Instead of bending a standard shop after the fact, we plan your attributes, pricing logic and approval processes from the start so they fit together. That saves time in operation and avoids costly rebuilds as your assortment or customer base grows. For detailed planning, it is worth reading Product Data in B2B: PIM and Data Quality and Product Configurator and Guided Selling for B2B.
